They also have a sparkle GOLD collection so make sure you pick between the rose gold and the gold fabrics! I got mine from this Etsy seller but I have seen it now at FatQuarterShop. I am sure many more vendors with start carrying this wonderful line as it releases.
I used freezer paper applique techniqe to make the monogram letters and the circle the letters will be appliqued on. How did I do it? I downloaded a free font from the internet and printed it out on paper and then traced the reverse side of the letters onto the freezer paper. I cut the shapes out and then ironed them onto the back side of the hashtag fabric. Then I cut the fabric slightly larger than the shaped (about 1/8") for purposes of turning it to the back. The extra fabric then was glued with a glue stick to the back of the letters, making small cuts in the 1/8" fabric wherever turning needing assistance for pleating the fabric more easily. I used a toothpick to add the glue and for folding the 1/8" edge to the back of the letter. I then left the letter to dry under a heavy book. The next day I appliqued the letters to the quilt top. After it was attached, I cut a slit into the back of the fabric it was appliqued to so I could remove the paper. Wetting it under warm water made the glue melt and allowed the paper to be removed perfectly. Below shows the completed results! Love it!
I used every piece of the fat quarters I bought! There is lots of piecing going on here to use all the stash. I have decided to use the hashtags for the binding. Stay tuned for the final product. I will be machine quilting this one since it's going to be well used in the dorm and I don't think it will be a collectors piece.
